Elena and Vic Pankey (husband and wife team)
is a very special Tango couple. They have been dancing Tango
from 2001, and are well known for their theatrical Tango, sensuality and
togetherness, harmony of being as one in tango. They like to dance
Tango-life-story, where during 2 minutes of the dance they create
different plots, intrigues and sharp characters. They bring into the
Tango a very extensive back ground in classical music, dramatic arts,
oriental dance, and other cultural dances. They are dancers and
educators, and are performing throughout the USA and Mexico. Elena Pankey is from Russia, where she finished University as the philologist-linguist; studied character dance, ballet, music (accordion), acting. She lived and traveled in many different countries. Elena got married to Dr. Vic Pankey in 1996, and became American citizen in 2004. Elena has more than 25 years of job experience in many different areas of art, journalism, cinematography and dancing. Living in CA, her main hobby is writing. She publishes her articles about tango people in the “Dance Notes” USA Dance Magazine, where she is a contributing editor.
Elena and Vic began to learn Tango with Professional Tango Performing group "Las Pampas Devils" (Argentina) while cruising to Alaska. Then Elena and her husband Vic followed this group (2001-2003), and Elena performed with "Los Pampas Devils "on the ships. Then Elena and Vic made several trips to Argentina to polish their skills and learn deeper this unique sub-culture- tango. Later, Elena fundamentally and consistently was trained with the best Masters of the world; finished Tango Choreography and Master classes, passed a special professional test, has a special Tango teacher Diploma, and a member of the Argentine Tango Master Association. Elena and Vic founded Tango Caminito Dance Company (2003) in order to give all dance couples freedom and the equal opportunity to perform as one might feel it! Victor Pankey is 4th generation farmer in
CA; has pilot license, and before tango his passion was
flying. Now he thinks that Tango is the most exiting and challenging
dance, which helps many people to develop deeper concentration, body and
life balance. Vic is a businessman, but also, he is a beautiful social
dancer, with deep feelings for the tango music. In his youth he played
the flute, and has deep understanding for Tango movements.
